Doing our bit to raise awareness and money for Dementia charity

As the summer months approach and the York rental property market continues to grow, here at Letters of Distinction we like to take time out from our busy working lives to focus on those less fortunate than ourselves and have some fun whilst raising vital charitable funds.

Each year we choose a charity to support.  Last year it was Martin House Children’s Hospice in Clifton, and we raised £2,000 which is being put to good use providing family led care for children with life shortening conditions.

This year we are raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society and we hope to raise a similar amount. The Society helps people with Dementia, which can happen to anyone and there’s currently no cure.

Dementia can strip people of their memory, their relationships and their connection to the world they love, leaving sufferers and their families feeling isolated and alone – it’s a charity close to our hearts.

So, we have kick-started our fundraising activity this week, which is National Dementia Awareness Week, by asking everyone who visits our offices to guess how many sweeties we have in our rather large jar in exchange for a £1.00 donation. We have also hosted a team ‘Bake off’ where everyone in the office has showcased their buns, biscuits and more! And  in total we managed to raise £114.32!

Over the next few months we will be organising more events and activities to help us reach our fundraising target, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our landlords, tenants and contractors who have given us their support and their hard earned cash so far! Make sure you keep your eye on our Facebook page and Twitter feed for details of future events and the slightly embarrassing photos!

If you wish to donate to help us reach our target then you can either text LETT56 £1 to 70070 or alternatively visit our Just Giving page
